Since 1984, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) has arranged Royal Technology Missions at The King's initiative. Swedish business leaders and representatives from authorities and universities were invited to join the visits. The aim of the visits was to gain new knowledge and make new contacts that can lead to a greater exchange of ideas and business with the two countries in the long-term.

This year's mission began with two days in Paris, and concluded with three days in Berlin.
