HM The King's closing speech at the BP Fellows Recognition Event

Luxemburg

(The spoken version shall take precedence)

Your Majesty,
Your Royal Highnesses,
Your Highness,
Your Excellency,
dear BP Fellows and guests,

It is a pleasure to be here this evening together with you: BP Fellows, Scouts and supporters of Scouting from Luxembourg and around the world!

I hope you have all had a pleasant summer. And time to enjoy it.

One of the memories that I cherish the most from this summer, is when the Queen and I, together with a few BP Fellows, visited “Jamboree22”, in Kristianstad in the south of Sweden.

At the jamboree, we spoke with Scouts and leaders from all over Sweden, and we also met with a group of visiting young Scouts from Ukraine.

Interacting with young Scouts and taking part in their activities is always very rewarding – and also lot of fun!

Furthermore, it is a very good reminder that what we do here matters: Your support for the Scouting movement is helping young people become active citizens, and to develop the skills, values and confidence they need to take meaningful action in their local communities.

Ladies and gentlemen, we last met here in Luxembourg in 2019. We held a board Meeting, a special dinner to recognise new BP Fellows and Honours Programme Members, and we celebrated HRH The Crown Prince Guillaume becoming Chief Scout of Scouting in Luxembourg.

This was a role previously held for 74 years by his late grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, also a cherished BP Fellow and a dear friend.

I am sure you will all agree that HRH is doing an excellent job, as are the Scouts in Luxembourg!

Tonight, many of you are here again and have helped to bring on board even more new BP Fellows to the World Baden-Powell Fellowship.

Your recruitment efforts are vital in raising support for World Scouting.

From the national re-forestation action in Croatia that we heard about earlier, to the innovative community project in the Philippines to improve food security for families in need: Scouting changes lives for the better. And your support makes it possible!

As we celebrate the new BP Fellows here tonight, I ask you all to help us to continue growing the Fellowship:

Share your passion for Scouting with your friends and networks.

Tell them about the great initiatives that we have heard about here.

Let them know, that young Scouts are working hard to drive positive change. Always and everywhere.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for everything you do for World Scouting. I wish you a wonderful evening.

Thank you!
