The Crown Princess attends a Home Guard exercise in Dalarna

On Wednesday 29 September, The Crown Princess visited the Home Guard's Borderland exercise at Rörbäcksnäs in Dalarna's Sälen Mountains.

The Crown Princess was invited to the exercise by the Chief of the Home Guard, Major General Stefan Sandborg.

During the Borderland exercise, units from the Swedish Armed Forces' central military region – primarily the Dala Battalion – carried out tasks over the course of eight days.

Exercise with the Norwegian Home Guard

During the day, The Crown Princess met many Swedish and Norwegian Home Guard soldiers who were taking part in the exercise.

The Borderland exercise was carried out near the Norwegian border, together with Norwegian Home Guard forces.

The Home Guard

The Home Guard is part of the Swedish Armed Forces' task force, and makes up almost half of the Armed Forces' personnel. The Home Guard troops are modern military units, and their main task is to defend, protect, oversee and support civilian society during times of crisis.
