Jubilee performance at Drottningholm

To mark The King's 50 years on the throne, the Royal Swedish Opera gave a jubilee performance at Drottningholm Palace Theatre in honour of HM The King on the evening of Thursday 14 September.

The Royal Swedish Ballet, the Royal Court Orchestra, the choir of the Royal Swedish Opera and a number of soloists took part in the performance.

Alongside the Royal Family, the other invited guests included Nordic royal guests, the other Nordic heads of state, the Swedish Government and the party leaders, the county governors, and representatives from authorities, academia, industry, royal academies, culture and the media.

The performance included Drottningholm Music by Johan Helmich Roman, songs by Carl Michael Bellman, The Champagne Galop by Hans Christian Lumbye, songs by Prince Gustaf, the ballet Fiskarena, Så Skimrande var Aldrig Havet by Evert Taube and the final chorus from Mozart's The Magic Flute.

After the performance, The King and Queen hosted a supper at Drottningholm Palace. After the supper, the guests – including the Nordic heads of state and their spouses – listened as the Army Music Corps concluded the day by performing the Army's Grand Tattoo.
