HRH The Crown Princess' speech of thanks at UNDP:s and the Swedish embassy's reception
Dhaka, Bangladesh
(The spoken version shall take precedence)
UNDP representatives,
Swedish Embassy Staff,
Excellencies,
Minister/Ministers,
Ladies and gentlemen,
My heartfelt gratitude goes to the UNDP Resident Representative with team, the Swedish Ambassador and her staff, and our hosts from Bangladesh for organizing this diverse visit. It has been a true joy to visit Bangladesh again.
These days have been interesting, informative, and engaging. We have seen how inclusive digital development is reducing poverty in rural Bangladesh. Also, we have experienced young entrepreneurs tackling climate impact in vulnerable areas. Additionally, we visited Rohingya Refugee Camps and engaged in meaningful conversations with students at the Asian University for Women.
This is my second visit to Bangladesh, but my first as a goodwill ambassador for UNDP. My hope is that our visit has further strengthened Sweden’s and Bangladesh’s joint effort in accelerating the work on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Finally, I want to thank you for the exciting days here in Bangladesh. I will return to Sweden with many warm memories of inspiring stories.
And dear Ulrika Modéer, in my capacity as UNDP goodwill ambassador, I look forward to continued cooperation – for a future where no one is left behind.
Thank you.
